Jimbo's Sigma APO DG EX 70-200mm f/2.8 Macro
This telephoto zoom lens has a large constant maximum aperture of f2.8 through the zoom range and it is optimised for digital SLR cameras.
This large aperture telephoto zoom lens has a minimum focusing distance of 100cm (39.4”) throughout the entire zoom range, making it very convenient for close-up photography. It maintains a greater working distance that enables you to capture the small animals and insects without disturbing them.
HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) for silent and fast auto - focus
The HSM provides quiet high-speed AF function, as well as full time manual focus capability.
Inner focusing and inner zooming systems
This lens incorporates an inner focusing system, which eliminates front lens rotation, allowing the use of a petal-type hood and more convenient to use of circular polarizing filter. Since focusing and zooming do not change its overall length, this lens is easy to hold and use. This lens comes with detachable tripod mount.
APO Tele-Converter EX (optional)
The lens can be used with the 1.4x EX or 2.0x EX Apo Tele Converters (optional), becoming a 98-280mm F4 telephoto zoom lens or a 140-400mm F5.6 telephoto zoom lens respectively. It is also possible to use AE (Automatic Exposure) function, when EX Tele-converters are attached.

The thing I like about this lens is it's ability to separate the background from the mani subjetc it does this by being a telephoto which compresses the perspective and by alos being a fast len of 2.8. the object was only 1 meter in front of the lens.
The following photo is of a wind chime ball decoration hanging from the light switch in the middle of my conservatory which is only 10ft across and clearly show the shallow depth of field separation.

As well as creating good Bokeh it is a sharp lens at it distant subjects too!

The National Arboretum – 08/07/2010
This is one place that I have thought about visiting a number of times, but until now, never had the time.
These are some of my photographs from the day:
A great day, at a great place with some great people !
It was especially nice to see the tribute to those who died following the explosion at Fauld Bomb Dump towards the end of the Second World War.

Patter of tiny paws
or Paws for thought
Well, after loosing our precious Becky last year, which devastated us and many people we know, and many who we did not, three of us visited a farm yesterday and one extra came back !
Meet Enya
Ok, she sleeps a lot !
Like Becky, Enya is a border collie.
She has been introduced to these odd shaped boxes that sometimes flash, and she will be my new model for Pet Photography, as long as she keeps them sharp puppy teeth to herself !
Now, where is my lens cap ???
We will never forget our beautiful Becky xx
