The Roaches

The Burton Photographic Society had a visit to the Roaches, a beautiful area near Leek, on Saturday 25th July, and Steve, Suzy, Eric and myself joined them for a ‘little walk’.

After picking up the team, Steve took us to the Priory Centre at Stretton where we met some of the others from the Society.  After waiting for any others to join us we headed for the Roaches.

Julian was our guide and he took us up to see some amazing views from the Roaches, and then down to see a hidden church.

Below are some of my images from the day:

Then it was a case of going from the highs of the Roaches, to the lows of Lud Church:

Surprise in the post (no pun intended)

Had a surprise in today’s post ……….. the certificate for the module (studio) that we have just finished !  A bit disappointed with the presentation grade (the cake wasn’t that bad was it ?), I can only assume that my work was marked earlier than I thought, and some of my work may have missed the deadline ;-((.

Has anyone else got their certificate, or is it an error !

The accreditation / exam date was 02/07/2010.

As for the balloon debate, I will wait until a few more people have voted, before I say anything.  But it is interesting to see four slightly different photographs of the same thing, with differences in colours, tones etc.

The National Arboretum – 08/07/2010

This is one place that I have thought about visiting a number of times, but until now, never had the time.

These are some of my photographs from the day:

What a way to end the day !

A great day, at a great place with some great people !

It was especially nice to see the tribute to those who died following the explosion at Fauld Bomb Dump towards the end of the Second World War.

Patter of tiny paws

or Paws for thought

Well, after loosing our precious Becky last year, which devastated us and many people we know, and many who we did not, three of us visited a farm yesterday and one extra came back !

Meet Enya

Enya

Ok, she sleeps a lot !

Like Becky, Enya is a border collie.

She has been introduced to these odd shaped boxes that sometimes flash, and she will be my new model for Pet Photography, as long as she keeps them sharp puppy teeth to herself !

Now, where is my lens cap ???

We will never forget our beautiful Becky xx
